Job Context

The Medical Social Worker/ Counselor will support FH/MTI project activities in Kutupalong and Nayapara Registered Camps. The job holder will carry out appropriate roles and responsibilities by facilitating delivery of quality health services through supporting the delivery of counselling and support services of Mental Health and psycho-social support and counselling in the delivery of HIV/PMTCT and SGBV services.

Job Description / Responsibility

• Participate in documenting gaps, bottlenecks and challenges ,planning, monitoring and evaluating of protection and social work activities in the health facilities and catchment area.
• Provide technical guidance, on the job training, coaching and mentoring to the health workers team on child protection and GBV minimum standards.
• Track capacity building needs of each staff member in the PSS team and establish capacity building plan.
• Observe PSS activities and provide technical guidance on facilitation skills, child protection, GBV and PSS key messages and communication skills.
• Interview patients and relatives with social needs.
• Offer psycho-social support, social care and emotional therapy to patients and other persons.
• Compile and submitting technical and performance reports to the relevant authorities.
• Carry out home and follow-up visit to patients.
• Provide social work services with linkages to relevant protection/referral pathways.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) in Social Science
• Essential Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counselling, psychology or related field.
• Must have training in Mental Health and Psychosocial Counselling with emphasis on Sexual and Gender Based Violence training.
• Excellent knowledge of Protection and GBV minimum standards and basic principles.
• Training in HIV/AIDS and PMTCT counselling is an added advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of psychosocial support basic principles and PSS key messages to vulnerable children and caregivers.
